Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar Brown sugar can be used for a richer flavor.
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened Can substitute with margarine or coconut oil for dairy-free.
  • 1 large egg Can replace with flaxseed meal or applesauce for a vegan option.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Optional mix-ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or nuts Feel free to add dried fruits, oats, or spices for variations.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to get it ready for baking.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing gently until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if desired.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Make sure your butter is softened but not melted for the best texture. Avoid over-mixing to keep cookies tender. Watch the baking time to prevent over-baking.
