Equipment

  • loaf pan (9x4-inch)
  • large mixing bowl
  • wooden spoon or hands
  • small bowl (for glaze)
  • Oven
  • Knife
  • meat thermometer

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef (85% lean)
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar (for glaze)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a 9x4-inch loaf pan by lightly greasing or lining with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, mix ground beef, diced onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  • Form the meat mixture into a loaf and place it into the prepared pan, pressing down gently to even it out.
  • In a small bowl, combine ketchup, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Spread evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  • Bake for 55–60 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!

Notes

For a more tender loaf, avoid overmixing the meat. You can use a mix of beef and pork for added flavor. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze in slices for quick meals later.
