Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a larger bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy and smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually blend in the dry mixture until just combined, then fold in the chocolate chips or your choice of mix-ins.
- Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them a few inches apart.
Baking
- Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Store leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week, or freeze for up to three months.
