Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter, softened Can substitute with margarine or plant-based butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Can substitute with coconut sugar or maple syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix-ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Can use white chocolate or peanut butter chips as variations

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another large bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and well combined.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the butter mixture until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spaced a few inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until edges are firm and centers look slightly soft.
  2. Allow to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes, then transfer to wire racks.

Notes

Best enjoyed warm. Can be paired with milk or ice cream. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for three months.
