Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken.
  • 4 tsp minced ginger
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup low sodium soy sauce Can be substituted with tamari for gluten-free.
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • ¼ cup brown sugar Can use honey or maple syrup as a natural sweetener.
  • 6 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes Adjust to taste.
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 12 oz linguine noodles Other types of noodles can be used if desired.
  • 4 green onions diced for garnish
  • to taste toasted sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Cooking the Beef

  • In a medium skillet with high sides, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
  • Add the minced ginger and garlic to the meat. Stir occasionally to break up the beef as it cooks, until it's fully browned.
  • Drain any excess fat and return the skillet to the stovetop.

Preparing the Pasta

  • While the beef is cooking, get a large pot of water boiling for your linguine noodles.
  • Salt the water well to add flavor while cooking the noodles. Cook the noodles according to package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes.

Making the Sauce

  • In a small dish, mix together the soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and hoisin sauce until well combined.
  • Pour this mixture into the skillet with the cooked ground beef. Allow everything to sauté together for about 3 minutes.

Combining Ingredients

  • Once your linguine noodles are cooked, drain them and add them directly to the skillet with the ground beef and sauce.
  • Toss everything together thoroughly to coat the noodles with the sauce. Let it cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken.

Serving

  • Remove from heat and serve topped with diced green onions and a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat in a microwave or skillet with a splash of broth to keep moist.
