Ingredients
  

For the Toffee

  • 1 cup unsalted butter You can substitute margarine for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Toppings

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips Can be substituted with dark, milk, or white chocolate.
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (like almonds or walnuts) Pecans or hazelnuts can be used as alternatives.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and sugar together, stirring constantly until the mixture reaches a deep amber color (about 5-10 minutes).
  • Remove from heat and quickly stir in the salt and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the toffee mixture onto your prepared baking sheet and spread it out evenly.

Baking

  • Bake the toffee in the preheated oven for 6-8 minutes until bubbly, monitoring it closely to prevent burning.
  • Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee as soon as it comes out of the oven and let them sit for a couple of minutes.
  • Use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee.
  • Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the chocolate layer.
  • Allow the toffee bark to cool completely at room temperature.
  • Once cool, break it into pieces.

Serving

  • Serve the toffee bark on a festive platter or package it for gifting.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Consider refrigerating if in a humid environment.
