Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until they become translucent and fragrant, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the pan. Cook until browned, seasoning with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Pour the marinara sauce into the pan and stir until the meat is well-coated, allowing it to simmer for a few minutes.
- Slice the Italian bread into individual servings and place them in a baking dish, cut side up.
- Scoop the meat mixture onto each piece of bread and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven, let cool for a minute, and serve hot.
Notes
For a crisper crust, broil the subs for an additional 1-2 minutes after baking. Make sure to monitor the meat closely while cooking to avoid overcooking.
