Dry Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2¼ tsp) active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 large egg
For Brushing
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
Step 1: Activate the Yeast Combine warm milk and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle yeast over the surface and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
Step 2: Mix the Dough Add melted butter and beaten egg to the yeast mixture. Gradually stir in flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
Step 3: Knead the Dough Turn dough onto lightly floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic (or 5–6 minutes with a stand mixer).
Step 4: First Rise Place dough in greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes until doubled.
Step 5: Shape the Rolls Punch down dough, divide into 12 pieces, and shape each into a ball.
Step 6: Second Rise Place rolls on greased baking sheet, cover, and let rise for 15 minutes.
Step 7: Bake Preheat oven to 375°F. Brush rolls with melted butter and bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
Step 8: Final Touch Brush with remaining melted butter right after baking for a beautiful glossy finish.
Use whole milk for richer flavor. Ensure milk is comfortably warm—not hot to avoid killing yeast. Serve rolls warm; to refresh, wrap in foil and warm at 300°F for 5 minutes. Freezes well for up to three months.
