Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Mix well.
- In another bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of milk, 1/4 cup of melted butter, and 1 egg until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until combined to form a soft dough, adding more flour if too sticky.
Rolling and Filling
- Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a rectangle.
- Sprinkle 1/4 cup of brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon over the rolled dough evenly.
Shaping and Baking
- Starting from one end, roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into equal slices about 1 to 2 inches thick.
- Place the slices in a greased baking dish with some space between them.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown on top.
Making the Icing
- While the rolls are baking, mix 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, and 1-2 tablespoons of milk until smooth.
- Once the rolls are finished baking, drizzle the icing over the warm rolls.
Notes
Tips include ensuring ingredients are at room temperature for best results, not overmixing the dough to prevent toughness, and checking doneness by internal temperature.
