Preparation
- Using a rolling pin or your hands, gently flatten each slice of bread.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, light brown sugar, and cinnamon together until smooth to create the filling.
- Spread a thin layer of the cinnamon filling on each slice of flattened bread. Roll each slice tightly into a log and set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk to create your French toast batter.
Cooking
- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat and melt a little butter in the pan.
- Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, ensuring it's fully coated but not soaked.
- Place the roll-ups in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, turning often, until they are golden brown and crispy.
- While the roll-ups are still warm, roll them in a mixture of granulated sugar and cinnamon.
- Dust the roll-ups with powdered sugar, drizzle with maple syrup, or dip them in a cream cheese glaze for presentation.
Notes
For best results, avoid overcrowding the skillet and ensure even cooking. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
