Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar Enhances caramel flavor if substituted for white sugar.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Can substitute with dark chocolate or white chocolate.

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until fully incorporated.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the cookie dough.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 9-11 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Remove the cookies from the oven and cool them on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For soft cookies, slightly underbake them. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets to prevent breaking.
