Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened You can use margarine or coconut oil instead of butter.
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar Can substitute with coconut sugar for a different flavor.
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour Whole wheat flour can be used for a healthier option.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips Can use milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or white chocolate chips.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough.
  • Drop dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are light golden brown. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For chewier cookies, avoid overmixing the dough once you add the flour. Make sure your butter is softened, but not melted. Adjust baking sheets between batches for optimal results.
