Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is softened but not melted.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs Beat in one at a time.

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour Can be replaced with whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Mix-Ins

  • 1 cup chocolate chunks Can substitute with dark chocolate or other varieties.
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) Use walnuts or pecans if desired.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring they are fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together.
  • Gradually blend the dry mixture into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chunks and nuts until evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Use a spoon or cookie scoop to drop spoonfuls of cookie dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring enough space between each.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Freeze for up to 3 months. To reheat, microwave for a few seconds or warm in the oven.
