Preparation of the crust
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped pecans, flour, melted butter, and sugar. Mix until everything is incorporated.
- Press this mixture into the bottom of a pie dish to form an even crust.
- Bake for about 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow it to cool completely.
Making the cream cheese layer
- In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
- Spread this mixture over the cooled pecan crust evenly.
Preparing the chocolate filling
- In a saucepan, whisk together milk, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and cornstarch.
- Cook this over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.
- Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Allow this chocolate mixture to cool slightly before pouring it over the cream cheese layer.
Finishing and chilling
- Top the pie with whipped cream to give it a delightful finish.
- Cover the pie with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to let the flavors meld.
Notes
