Ingredients
  

For the crust

  • 1 cup pecans, chopped Can substitute with walnuts or almonds.

  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • ¼ cup sugar Can substitute with coconut sugar or another sweetener.

For the filling

  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened Bring to room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup whipped cream Additional whipped cream for topping.
  • ½ cup cocoa powder Can substitute with chocolate pudding mix.
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Preparation of the crust

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped pecans, flour, melted butter, and sugar. Mix until everything is incorporated.
  • Press this mixture into the bottom of a pie dish to form an even crust.
  • Bake for about 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow it to cool completely.

Making the cream cheese layer

  • In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  • Spread this mixture over the cooled pecan crust evenly.

Preparing the chocolate filling

  • In a saucepan, whisk together milk, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and cornstarch.
  • Cook this over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.
  • Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Allow this chocolate mixture to cool slightly before pouring it over the cream cheese layer.

Finishing and chilling

  • Top the pie with whipped cream to give it a delightful finish.
  • Cover the pie with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to let the flavors meld.

Notes

Make sure to bring the cream cheese to room temperature for easy mixing. Avoid overcooking the chocolate mixture to maintain pourability. Refrigerate leftovers for up to three days.
